Episode #19 - Nicole Kenny

This was a special interview.  Nicole is starting her sophomore year at Malone University in Canton this fall and her story is special.  I was Nicole's third grade teacher at Scioto Ridge and then her middle school tech teacher at Hyatts.  She was one of my two "Behind the Scenes" stars and was the rock I needed to make sure the news ran well in the morning.

We talked about a lot.  I wish that I would have recorded her swimming stuff on the podcast, but her recruitment to Malone made her realize that swimming in college is what she wanted to do.  She mentioned to me her love of the sciences, which is where I told her that she was "smarter than Mr. Meta!"  

Honestly, this was a first for me in an interview, I asked Nicole to tell me her story starting from 3rd grade, when I remember Nicole as such a tiny student, who worked so hard and she struggled to the college sophomore who loves school, class and swimming.  I am so impressed with Nicole and I am so jealous that she is in school right now!

I am so proud of Nicole and her successes!  I never, let me repeat, I never doubted Nicole.  When she was in third grade, she was such a hard working young person and she continued that work ethic in my classroom in middle school. That work ethic has lead Nicole to where she is today.  I jokingly told her it was her third grade teacher that made her "get" all her science classes, but it absolutely is what she has been doing as a student throughout all these years.

I am so proud of Nicole and her sisters Justine and Allie!
